Whether you are new to wearing wigs or have been wearing them for quite some time, you may have come across two popular lace wig options that you are uncertain about: the lace front/lace frontal wig, and the full lace wig. At Ali Grace, we want you to be completely satisfied with your lace wig choice. In this article, we will detail everything you need to know about both options so you can make the best choice for you.
What is a Lace Front Wig?
A lace front wig is a special type of wig that places lightweight, sheer lace all along the front hairline position of the head, typically from one ear to the other ear. The size of the lace varies, which is why it is so important to measure your hairline and select the corresponding measurement. At Ali Grace, we offer 13x4, 13x6, and 360 frontal wigs.
100% high-grade human hair is sewn onto the delicate lace by hand, to achieve a completely natural look. You may wonder why we do not use a thicker or firmer lace, and that is because it would create a stiff volume at the top of your hair, detracting from the realistic look you strive for. Furthermore, the sheerness allows for easy blending with your natural scalp color and hairline.
What is a Full Lace Wig?
A full lace wig is when the whole head is covered with similar transparent, lightweight and breathable lace. To achieve the perfect fit for your own head, you will need to perform several measurements across your head. Additionally, we add adjustable straps to either side of the wig so you can receive a completely comfortable fit.
Our 100% human hair is knotted into the lace base by hand. In this way, we can make sure the hair falls naturally from the wig just as though your natural hair would flow from your head. We can also create a natural looking hairline by pre-plucking and adding baby hairs.
Should I Choose A Lace Front Wig or a Full Lace Wig?
Your choice between a lace front wig or a full lace wig may be deeply personal. For example, if you are suffering hair loss from all over your head, you may wish to choose a full lace wig.
In general, there are three main reasons we recommend choosing one over another.
A full lace wig may be an excellent option if you are experienced with wigs. If you are a beginner, you may have more ease installing a lace frontal as there is only one, small section to glue.
You may also be more inclined to choose a lace front wig, particularly a 360 lace front wig, as it will allow you to perform many different hairstyles. Whereas with regular lace front wigs and full lace wigs, you can only achieve low hairstyles such as loose hair or low ponytails, with a 360 lace front wig you can also perform high ponytails and topknots.
Moreover, when you are wearing a full-lace wig, you will need to wear a wig cap. This is because you will have to glue the whole wig onto your head. On the other hand, while you can wear a wig cap with a lace front, you certainly do not have to since you are only bonding to the front section.
